Writers

GABY ALTER (composer/lyricist) is the recipient of a 2008 Jonathan Larson Grant, and a winner of the San Francisco Theater Critics' Circle and New York Fringe Festival Songwriting Awards. His projects include BAND GEEKS (with Tommy Newman, Mark Allen and Gordon Greenberg), which is being developed with Goodspeed Musicals; the pop song cycle TWENTY-NINE (with Tommy Newman), which was selected as NYU Steinhardt's 2007 Spring Musical; and REALITY! with playwright Itamar Moses, which was workshopped at the Cape Cod Theatre Project in 2008.

Gaby has written songs and music for PBS TV's Pre-School Kids Block, the public radio show Backstory, and the documentaries Nerdcore Rising (2008 South by Southwest Film Festival) and Keep Eye On Ball: The Hashim Khan Story. His theater songs have been heard at William Finn's new songwriters' cabaret at Barrington Stage Company, the 2006 Tisch On Broadway Benefit hosted by Billy Crystal, and TheATrainPlays at New World Stages. He is a member of the Dramatists' Guild and ASCAP, and an alumnus of NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.
